Royal Botanic
071000.03Vibrant city living linked by the past & future
Close to the Botanic Gardens and the Brussels city centre, a new future for the iconic - but neglected - Gesù site was sought for some 40 years. The Royal Botanic project is the groundbreaking redevelopment of this site. Following the success of The Grand in Nieuwpoort and Weylerkazerne and Huis van Hamme in Bruges, VDD Project Development will also revalue this monumental complex in its entirety after years of decay.
Under the new name Royal Botanic, the site of the former Jesuit monastery will be redesigned into a multifaceted redevelopment project with both residential and commercial functions.
Scattered between the restored neoclassical building at the corner of the rue Royale (Building A) and a new building adjacent to rue de la Comète (Building C), an exciting mix of 57 apartments will be realised.
A beautiful inner garden between the buildings acts as the heart of this project, where residents can enjoy an oasis of greenery and tranquillity in the midst of the city - and with a view of the Gesù church.
The new Royal BotanicRoyal Botanic is not just another real estate project. It is a tribute to the rich heritage character of the site that embodies our commitment to create a vibrant, sustainable and lively environment. The new Royal Botanic thus not only gives new purpose to the neglected site, but also develops into a dynamic and vibrant hotspot and a catalyst for the already thriving neighbourhood.

Future-proof living on the former jesuit monastery
Green energy is a crucial pillar within the Royal Botanic project. To keep overall energy consumption to a minimum, various modern and sustainable techniques are applied, including individual heat pumps, solar panels and maximum recovery of produced heat. As a result, both the project and your apartment are completely future-proof and heating is realised without the use of fossil fuels.
The apartments offer optimal winter comfort thanks to smart integration of these renewable energy sources. The concept includes individual heat pumps tailored to personal use, combined with solar panels on the roof for maximum renewable energy.
This energy generated from the solar panels is used for the operation of lifts and communal areas. Our approach is therefore not only ecological, but also leads to significant cost savings, making the project both sustainable and economically beneficial.
